Concept

Join us for a comprehensive week of digital processing. Establish a clear and concise work flow from capture to optimization to final output. We work with students individually to guide their digital skills to the next level.

Media & Techniques

We shoot with digital SLR cameras, process with Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop on Macintosh computers and use Epson digital printers.

Activities

Class time is divided equally between location shooting and studio processing. Mornings are devoted to one-on-one teaching of digital optimization and short lectures. Afternoons are used to capture images and demonstrate outdoor lighting techniques.

Greg Gorman is an internationally renowned portrait photographer with numerous magazine covers and several fine art photography books to his credit. He has successfully made the transition from film to digital over the past several years.

R. Mac Holbert is the co-founder of Nash Editions. Widely regarded as the world's first digital printmaking studio focusing solely on photography, Nash Editions has established an international reputation for fine art photographic digital output. Mac has lectured extensively and conducted workshops on digital output, digital imaging, scanning and fine art printing

Open to all Students of any skill and knowledge level.

Level I Students are new to ceramics and have no formal training.

Level II Students have a basic understanding of forming techniques such as throwing and handbuilding. Students have taken one or two ceramics classes or workshops.

Level III Students have significant experience with clay forming techniques such as throwing, handbuilding and modeling. Students are comfortable with ceramics equipment such as wheels, extruders and slab rollers. Students are self-starting with some formal training and have taken a minimum of three classes or workshops.

Level IV Students have advanced skills and knowledge of the ceramics field. Students are highly motivated, have a minimum of five years experience in the field, and have a portfolio of their artwork. Typical students are academics and professional artists.

The Ceramics program provides a community in which to discuss, exchange and make ceramic art and pottery. Students work in interactive studios shared with other students and visiting faculty. Instructors emphasize personal growth and artistic discovery, with finished pieces representing only a part of the process.
