Write your own programs using Adobe Flash and ActionScript Objects/Classes to create interactive and animated compositions. Advance your basic Flash design skills to develop working prototypes with processes to speed production and achieve flexibility.

Media & Techniques

We use Adobe Flash and ActionScript on Macintosh computers. A basic understanding of Flash and ActionScript is essential.

Activities

We hold daily demonstrations of the different features of ActionScript, conduct hands-on exercises, provide one-on-one help and complete a small project.

Joshua Davis is a New York-based artist, designer and technologist producing both public and private work for companies, collectors and institutions. Since 1995 Joshua Davis has been using technology and computers as a medium to create projects that a recent Apple Pro Profile touted as "infinitely interesting."

Open to all – Students of any skill and knowledge level.

Level I – Students have basic computer literacy but no formal training in video, multimedia or animation.

Level II – Students have a basic understanding of video, multimedia and animation software. Students are comfortable using a Macintosh computer.

Level III – Students have some formal training in conceptual and technological aspects of video, multimedia or animation software and have a portfolio or reel of their artwork.

Level IV – Students have advanced skills and knowledge of video, multimedia or animation. Students are highly motivated and have multiple portfolios of their artwork.

The New Media program offers workshops in video, animation, multimedia, physical computing and programming. All workshops are rooted in the same idea: that powerful art requires rigorous inquiry into techniques and ideas.
