Making Pots That Work (C0101)
| Full Course Title | Making Pots that Work (C0101) |
| Dates | Jun 07, 2010 - Jun 18, 2010 |
| Concept | Investigate a variety of forms and shapes that speak to your personal language of pottery making. We develop technical skills for good pottery making and new ways to think about pottery. Delve into your own artistic potential with the central question: How can I make my pottery my own? |
| Media & Techniques | We use high-fire clays, slips and glazes in gas reduction and soda-fired kilns. |
| Activities | Daily demonstrations begin at 9:00 am and after lunch, and there are discussions on slip and glaze applications and kiln firing. Students can expect to work both on and off the potter's wheel and fire at least two reduction kilns and two soda firings to cone 10. There is plenty of time for individual studio work along with one-on-one assistance from instructors and staff. |
