| Paris, La Ville Lumiere - The City of Light Paris is often called the City of Light, a name it owes in part to its fame as a center of education and ideas during the Age of Enlightenment. With its historic landmarks, grand vistas and narrow winding streets, Paris is a photographer's paradise. Join award-winning French photographer Philippe Vermes for a week of personalized photography instruction. During your visit and personal journey through Paris, you will be encouraged to produce your own series of creative images through guided observations and personal coaching of a long-time Paris resident and professional photographer. Starting each day from the Marais, we will divide our time between photographing outside, exploring portraiture with natural and studio lighting, and taking unique visits to photographic exhibits at the Musee d'Orsay, the Maison Europeen de la Photographie and the Jeu de Paume, and a specially-arranged viewing at the Musee Carnavalet of some of its 19th-century prints. We will strike a balance between fieldwork, critiques, new technical and aesthetic material and the freedom to explore and photograph the region. We recommend that you book accommodations in Marais, a very historic, photogenic and centrally-located neighborhood. Air travel, hotels and meals are not included in the cost of tuition.
