DESCRIPTION:CONCEPT: The Cyanotype is a 19th century process using a light sensitive emulsion\, coated on paper and exposed in the sun or a UV light box. This unique experience guides participants to better understand the photographic process and create a one of a kind blueprint. As an option\, participants may use found objects or bring images/negatives to scan and create digital negatives for exposure. Experimentation can include toning with Wine\, Coffee\, Tea and other acidic solutions.  MEDIA: Coating paper of varying sizes for exposure in the Sun or using a UV lightbox\, using objects for contact printing or creating digital negatives in the studio.  FACULTY: Esther Macy Nooner is the Studio Coordinator for Photography and New Media. She received her MFA in Studio Art from the University of Arkansas\, School of Art. She has participated in Artist in Residencies in the National Park System\, shown work nationally and internationally and is the Studio Coordinator for Photography and New Media at Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Workshop participants ages 13 and up will be required to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination (i.e.\, two weeks have passed after receiving the second dose of either the Moderna or Pfizer MRNA vaccines or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine). Additionally\, if six months have passed since completing the Moderna or Pfizer series or two months have passed since receiving the J & J vaccine\, then a booster is also required. Ideally the booster would have been administered at least two weeks prior to coming to Anderson Ranch. Click here to view our full Health & Safety Plan.
