Born and trained in woodworking in Japan\, Yuri Kobayashi is a sculptor/furniture maker whose work demonstrates a crossing over the field of craft\, art\, and design. She taught at Rhode Island School of Design for many years and held artist-in-residence programs at diverse institutes.
