DESCRIPTION:Anderson Ranch is thrilled to present the 2026 Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition. Started in the summer of 2020\, the exhibition features sculptures by local\, national\, and internationally acclaimed artists installed throughout the Ranch campus. This reception features artists Bunny Burson and Leah Aegerter\, creators of The Common Code sculpture. About The Common Code The Common Code sculpture emerges from the meeting of two artistic journeys. Bunny Burson’s inspiration for this piece was sparked by her discovery of family letters that revealed a personal past once unknown. Leah Aegerter’s work explores the wide range of artistic possibilities that digital fabrication tools present\, and how technology can transform the language of sculpture. Learn more. ABOUT THE ARTISTS  Bunny Burson is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Connecticut. She received her MFA from Washington University in St. Louis. Burson experiments with diverse media and processes to create work addressing historical and contemporary issues. In recent years\, the exploration of her family history has led her to examine and depict her genetic history\, connecting past\, present\, and future generations through science and art. Burson’s work is in the permanent collections of the Ellison Medical Institute at the University of Southern California\, the Whitney Museum of American Art\, the Perez Art Museum Miami\, the St. Louis Art Museum\, the United States Library of Congress\, the Israel Museum\, and the Stanford\, Columbia\, and Princeton University libraries. Burson was the recipient of an artist residency at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris\, France. She is the former Executive Director of the United States President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. Burson has been a neighbor and friend of the Ranch for many years\, working in the studios\, and serving on the board of directors from 2010-2017. Burson is represented by Bruno David Gallery\, in Saint Louis\, Missouri. Leah Aegerter is an artist working in object-based sculpture and installation. She lives and works in Carbondale\, Colorado\, and she spends much of her free time exploring the mountains and deserts of the American West on foot and by raft. Using a combination of digital fabrication techniques and traditional processes in materials such as wood\, paper\, and steel\, her work investigates her relationship to landscape and intimacy with material. Leah received a BFA in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2017. In 2022\, she was named an Aspen Art Museum Artist Fellow. She has participated in residencies at Grand Canyon National Park\, Rockland Woods\, and Haystack Mountain School of Craft. In 2023\, Leah presented Terrene\, a two-person exhibition at Colorado Mountain College (Aspen\, CO)\, and Once a River\, a solo exhibition in the Alpenglow Gallery at The Art Base (Basalt\, CO).
