DESCRIPTION:The Critical Dialog Program at Anderson Ranch seeks to engage the community in lively discussion about contemporary art and art making. The majority of artists juggle their art practice with other jobs\, duties\, children\, and responsibilities. The tenuous nature of the scaffolding around many of our lives has been made even more visible through the destabilization of the coronavirus pandemic. Making art under the pressure of not enough time\, space\, money\, or energy can be demoralizing. But there are strategies and flexibilities available to make the limits of life a part of your practice—and maybe even let those obstacles and boundaries influence the work in unexpected ways. Join this timely conversation\, with artist Gabriela Salazar about how to carve and create art within and around the best\, worst\, and realities of times. Moderated by Liz Ferrill\, the Artistic Director of Painting\, Drawing\, and Printmaking. This Critical Dialog lecture is free and open to the public. Registration is required and is limited to 20 people.
