Planned Giving

Giving to Enrich Lives with Art, Inspiration and Community

For the last half century, Anderson Ranch has grown and flourished as an arts and cultural center, providing members of our community, as well as artists near and far, with a vibrant place to learn and explore their creativity.

We would not exist without the vision, leadership and generosity of our committed supporters who want to continue to ensure Anderson Ranch will thrive in the future. With proper planning, you can provide financial security to your loved ones first. Then, you may want to consider including Anderson Ranch in your plans. These future gifts or “planned” gifts come in a variety of forms, many of which include benefits to you, such as tax savings. Some offer income during your retirement.

“Anderson Ranch has a sense of community all its own- as it nourishes and encourages artists from the beginner to the internationally acclaimed. The Ranch has fulfilled our hope of being a special thread in the tapestry of “community” in Snowmass and the Roaring Fork Valley. Our desire is for Anderson Ranch to continue to be a vibrant, creative art community for future generations.”

Options for Planned Giving

Giving through your will.

You can continue to support Anderson Ranch by making a gift through your will; consider giving:

  • A percentage
  • A specific amount
  • Specific property such as stocks, bonds or real estate
  • The residue, or whatever is left over after other bequests have been made
  • A blended bequest—a specific amount plus a percentage or all of the residue

You may also add a charitable bequest to an existing will through a codicil, or amendment.

Giving through retirement plans.

When you leave the balance of an IRA, 401(k) or 403(b) to your heirs, they must carefully manage the account to avoid losing its tax-deferred status and potentially triggering large income taxes and possible penalties. You can simplify matters for your loved ones by directing all or a portion of what remains in your retirement accounts to Anderson Ranch and leaving other more tax-favored assets to your heirs. Designating a charitable beneficiary of a retirement account does not require you to change your will.

Making a tax-free gift from your IRA.

If you are aged 70½ or older, you can give directly from a traditional or Roth IRA completely free of federal income tax (up to $100,000 per person per year). Giving directly from your IRA won’t increase your adjusted gross income and possibly subject your Social Security income to a higher level of taxation. Additionally, your charitable IRA gift may count towards your required minimum withdrawal.

Giving life insurance.

You may have a life insurance policy that you purchased to protect children who are grown, family members who have predeceased you or to fund now-completed educational plans. Such unneeded policies, which may have a significant cash value, make an excellent gift to Anderson Ranch.

Giving while receiving income.

You can plan a substantial charitable gift now that will allow you or a person you designate to receive payments for life or for a set period of time. Assets remaining in this gift plan when the payment period is over benefit Anderson Ranch. These gift plans often result in tax benefits, such as preferential treatment of capital gains and an income tax charitable deduction.

More information.

The gift ideas here are just a few of the ways you can support Anderson Ranch and all will enable our artistic endeavors to continue to grow and flourish. We will be pleased to provide you or your advisors with more information as you consider your plans, confidentially and with no obligation.
