VIRTUAL WORKSHOP: Figurative Collage: color, gesture & narrative

Kathy Liao

Tuition $595
Code D43W01-21

This dynamic, virtual collage workshop encourages students to explore different methods of storytelling through figurative gestures, thoughtful compositions and expressive colors. Participants draw gestures from life while they experiment with materiality, collage, color and composition. These studies, combined with personal imagery and reference photos, are used to create figurative narratives. Class discussions, facilitated via video conferencing software, focus on the expressive qualities of color and the arresting power of composition. Playing with different kinds of image-making and layered surfaces are emphasized as ways to create eye-catching and unique collages. One-on-one virtual critiques occur throughout the last two days of class for students to receive individual feedback.
