2017 Summer Series: Featured Artists & Conversations and Critical Dialogue

Presented by Toby Devan Lewis

Explore the work of world-renowned artists and curators.
Enjoy stimulating conversations with today’s most influential critics and collectors.

Anderson Ranch’s popular Summer Series: Featured Artists & Conversations fosters a broader understanding of contemporary art and art making. Featured events include lectures, conversations, panels and Q&A formats. Presentations are focused on artists’ work and topics relevant to the contemporary art community.

Recent participants include Marina Abramovic, Nick Cave, Theaster Gates, Massimiliano Gioni, Steve McQueen, Ron Nagle, Catherine Opie, Anne Pasternak, Lisa Phillips, Arlene Shechet, Frank Stella, Ryan Trecartin, Bill Viola and Kara Walker.

Programs are open to the public and held in Schermer Meeting Hall on the Anderson Ranch campus. Most presentations begin at 12:30 p.m., and seating is limited, so advanced registration is required. Students and faculty are invited to engage with Summer Series speakers during campus receptions and other small gatherings.

Critical Dialogue

This engaging program is driven by interactive discussion and led by an exciting lineup of renowned scholars, critics, writers and artists who take an in-depth look at relevant topics and trends in the contemporary visual arts. From intimate round table dialogue to fascinating historical reviews of art through the ages, these seminars are open to all, and offer the perfect complement to the hands-on art experiences that take place in the studios at the Ranch.
