This workshop encourages students to produce work at home at their own pace, pausing daily for critical dialog and individual critiques with the instructor. Topics are potentially wide-ranging, including technique, concept and approach to contemporary art practices. Students are expected to work independently and to set their own studio goals for the week. There are several group critiques and daily presentations of work by contemporary artists. Although primarily a painting workshop, participation by installation artists, sculptors, photographers and artists working across media is encouraged. Workshop meets each morning, holding critique and discussion regularly. Liz Ferrill engages students with individual feedback during the afternoons.
Students may use any materials needed to make their work.
