One of the oldest and most common beading techniques found in many cultures around the world is known as “netting”. In this unique workshop, students create stunning beaded jewelry using three different Ukrainian netting techniques. Students choose from a variety of vibrant colored glass seed beads and bugle beads to create stunning necklaces or bracelets to take home. Using needle and thread and following set patterns, students learn how to craft intricate pieces and study historical beading techniques.

Wendy Ellsworth has been a seed bead artist since 1970 and has a private studio at her home in Weaverville, NC. She has spent many years as an artist-in-the-schools in Colorado and Pennsylvania and helped establish an art program in the Delta, CO School District. She teaches classes in beadwork nationally and internationally to both adults and children, and has made eight trips to Kenya to work with Maasai and Samburu beading groups. Wendy’s book, Beading – The Creative Spirit, was published by SkyLight Paths in 2009.
