Step back in time, and take a lively journey through the world of art! During this educational creative week, we are inspired by some of the great and influential artists of our time. Each day we focus on a different artist with a comprehensive look at his or her artistic style and then spend the day creating our own work using similar techniques. Together we craft ornate self portraits inspired by the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo complete with tissue paper flowers, glitter, animal cut-outs and traditional Mexican tin work. We study Andy Warhol and the Pop Art Movement as we carve into styrofoam plates to print en masse with colorful inks. We also take an in-depth look at Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, and Jackson Pollock. We use all kinds of artistic materials including papier mache, clay, watercolors, pastels and more. Don’t miss out on this artistic adventure!
