Expand your mixed-media toolbox in this in-depth, week-long workshop. We combine two-dimensional mixed-media techniques with personalized exercises to further develop your studio practice. Our emphasis is on how to bring studio ideas into focus through the merging of process and critical thinking. Students work individually with the support and advice of the instructor to master demonstrated styles and to incorporate new media into their own work. We identify and pursue personal creative direction along with an introduction to critical dialogue. Students finish the class with plenty of new skills, materials and ideas for continuing work beyond the workshop week.
Media & Techniques:
We use water-based paint, drawing media, gluing techniques, collage, transfers, fabric, sewing techniques and more.
Students engage in technical demonstrations, exercises, individual work time, group discussions and one-on-one dialogue with the instructor to develop ongoing work and build studio work habits.
