Participants will learn how to build pots out of clay! We begin by discovering different types of clay bodies, then practice hand building by making pinch pots, coil pots, and rolling slabs. We use molds and drapery techniques to create functional objects such as bowls, cups and plates for our homes. We then discover different texture tools and glaze applications to make our pots one of a kind. Finally, we visit the Anderson Ranch kiln yard and ceramics studio to learn about different types of firing processes. If we have time we even try our hand at the potter’s wheel.
