Fabrics have a dynamic presence in the world of contemporary art. In this online workshop, participants explore the intersection between painting, textiles and pattern. Demonstrations, individual and group feedback is facilitated via video conferencing. Experimental “paintings” are created through the discovery of the symbolic play of decoration alongside repeating motifs. Students shift beyond the traditional confines of the rectangle or conventional paint on canvas, entering into exciting new terrain where painting functions quite differently, activating space in exciting new ways.
