Explore the visual language of images and nurture your passion for photography through an atmosphere of exploration, practice and play in this dynamic workshop. Examine how great photographs engage us visually, emotionally and intellectually. Improve your image-making abilities by focusing on both the technical aspects of a photograph and the ideas behind it while working on projects such as storytelling, the environment, and digital image creation using Adobe Photoshop. Learn more about your digital camera as we discuss techniques that allow you to take better and more unique photos. We edit in Adobe Photoshop, retouch photos, and discover ways to combine, blend and mix photographs together. We also view and discuss important photographs from the past and present.
Media & Techniques:
Students use a digital camera with manual exposure capabilities and a tripod, and Adobe Photoshop to edit, process and combine images. In this workshop we photograph outside in the natural environment, on Anderson Ranch, in the studio with controlled lighting, and on green screen.
We learn digital camera functions, shooting skills and image processing. Students increase their knowledge of contemporary photography with in-class demonstrations, hands-on computer instruction, and daily indoor and outdoor shooting projects.
