Tap into the stunning beauty of the Rocky Mountains as inspiration for your art making! In this engaging workshop, we take a look at the breathtaking landscape that surrounds us along with the furry, slimy and long-legged creatures that call it home. Getting our hands dirty, we create majestic bald eagle sculptures, textured ceramic owls, glistening watercolor snakes, giant stuffed rainbow trout, and intricate black bear collages. We use a variety of artistic mediums such as oil pastels, paint, watercolors, glue, tissue paper and more, to make one-of-a-kind projects. We also read a story each day that highlights these magnificent animals and their natural surroundings.

Sonya Taylor Moore is the owner of the Yellow Canary Art Studio as well as the art instructor at Ross Montessori School in Carbondale, Colo. Prior to that, she was the Children’s Coordinator at Anderson Ranch Arts Center. This unique combination of working with children and creating art is Sonya’s dream job – one she is thrilled to be able to share with the Roaring Fork Valley.
