Concept:

Have you ever had the blues or felt green with envy? Have you been tickled pink by a golden opportunity that came out of the blue? Color plays an integral role in our lives; it can even shape our moods. Discover how different cultures from around the world identify with colors and the symbolism colors carry across the globe. Find inspiration in the photographs of National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry as we discuss global cultural traditions. Students create indigo-dyed pieces with Japanese shibori techniques, mix an ancient plant extract with lemon juice to make small temporary henna tattoos, create a colorful string of prayer flags, and more!
