Concept:

Come experience the Anderson Ranch woodshop in this immersive week learning the fundamentals of woodworking! Students begin the week by sketching and drawing preliminary designs and then dive into basic woodshop practices to create wooden pieces for the kitchen. Students learn how to safely use woodshop machinery and tools such as rasps, files, carving gouges, bandsaws, drill presses, orbital sanders and more! We create wooden spoons of our own design, along with unique cutting boards of all shapes and sizes. Join the fun and explore what it takes to be a woodworker!

Faculty:

Laura Wagner is a Los Angeles-based artist and woodworker. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Furniture Design and Woodworking from San Diego State University and currently is a shop instructor at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Laura’s work is process-based and always has some humor injected into it.
