Executive Director

Barbara joined the Ranch in May 2010 as Executive Director. She has worked as an international museum consultant, museum director, curator of international contemporary art and design, author, and art historian. Previously the Curatorial Director of the Smithsonian’s National Design Museum, Barbara also served as the Director and chief curator of five art museums including the Guggenheim Hermitage & Las Vegas Museums, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia, and the Hudson River Museum. She received her BA in art history from Stanford University, MA from the Institute of Fine Arts (NYU) and an additional MA and PhD from Yale University.

Chair Of Artists' Residency Program, Artistic Director Ceramics, Sculpture, Furniture Design & Woodworking

Doug, director since 1985, teaches, lectures, builds kilns and exhibits his art worldwide. He has served as ceramics program consultant to the United Nations, is a board member for the Carbondale Clay Center, and was invited, along with Takashi Nakazato, as guest artist to the Shigaraki Ceramics Research Institute. He received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees in ceramics from Wichita State University and Alfred University in New York, respectively.

Artistic Director Of Painting, Printmaking, Exhibitions And Artist Projects

Paul is a diarist painter from Brooklyn, NY. He was a Ranch summer intern and artist-in-residence from 91-93 before leaving for graduate school. Paul received a BA in Art from Dartmouth College, a MFA from Yale in Painting and Printmaking and was a resident at Skowhegan. He has taught at RISD and shown his work at various galleries in New York and San Francisco. He is married to painter, Alex Blau, and lives with his beautiful daughter, Rose, his son, Charlie, the mellowest baby imaginable and an old dog, Bean. Visit www.paulpaul.com for more.

Artistic Director For Photography, New Media And Summer Workshops

Andrea Wallace received her MFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Before coming to the Ranch, she worked as Assistant Professor at Lake Forest College and Willamette University. Her film, Rochell and Brian, a documentary about teenage pregnancy, premiered at the New York International Independent Film Festival in 2006. She has exhibited nationally and internationally with numerous shows throughout the Americas, Europe, China and the Middle East.

Director Of Advancement

Judy, who heads Development and Special Events, came to the Ranch in 1994 from New England, with a background in Public Relations and Educational and Nonprofit Administration. Judy received her BA from Northwestern University in English, her MA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin, and her MS from Western Illinois University.

Registrar

For nine years, Carrie has overseen the enrollment of students in our summer workshops. Previously, she was Registrar at the Boston Center for Adult Education. She holds an MA in Political Science from the University of Colorado.

Cafe Manager, Ranch Cafe

A former Elementary School Teacher, David was born and raised in New Orleans. He attented Tulane University for several years and holds a B.S. in Psychology from Excelsior College. He trained extensively with the Hillstone Restaurant Group and worked with them for over 10 years in Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, New Orleans and Newport Beach, CA as a Corporate Trainer, Manager Trainer and Senior Manager. David learned the bulk of his cooking knowledge from both of his grandmothers, one of whom is known for publishing the famed Asphodel Plantation Cookbook. His influences are Southern Creole and Italian. He has been coming to Aspen since he was a child and moved here in June of 2008. He enjoys skiing and hiking.

Facilities Manager

A native of Dallas, Georgia, Bradley received his B.A. in liberal arts, art and ceramics from La Grange College in Georgia and his M.F.A. in ceramic art from Alfred University in New York. He is a past core student of Penland School of Crafts and past ceramics resident of Anderson Ranch, where he has been on staff since 1997.

Director Of Marketing/Communications

Originally from Connecticut, Holly received a BA in art history from Colorado College and has been a resident of the valley since 2001. She brings extensive marketing experience gained from previous positions in San Francisco and the Roaring Fork Valley, along with a love of art and design.

Publications & Media Coordinator

Originally from Massachusetts, Allison received her BA in Communications and Art from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2006. She has lived in Aspen for 4 years and has grown to love the community and its passion for nature. She brings an extensive knowledge of publishing, design and media.

Operations Manager

After completing her M.F.A. in fine art photography from the Art Institute of Boston, Sarah returned to the Roaring Fork Valley and joined the Ranch in 2008. In combination with her previous work in the gallery business, Sarah draws from her awareness as an artist to coordinate the programs at the ranch. In her current role, she oversees the Artists’ in Residency Program and the gallery and helps with the planning of the summer workshops and summer intern program.

Studio Coordinator, Ceramics

Ralph is the ceramics studio manager. Ralph recieved his BA in painting and sculpture from Evergreen College in 1995. He served as the studio director at Lill Street Art Center in Chicago from 1995-2000. Ralph served as the Studio Director at Santa Fe Clay from 2000-2005.

Studio Coordinator, Furniture Design & Woodworking

As the Studio Manager of woodworking, Jason oversees equipment and materials in the wood shop, teaches shop safety and helps students, staff, and residents, and works closely with Susan Working to see that the program is running at its best. Originally from Clifton, New Jersey, Jason received his B.F.A. in Furniture Design from William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ and his M.F.A in Furniture Design from San Diego State University in San Diego, CA.

Studio Coordinator, Sculpture

Jason received a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The inspiration of his professors there has fueled his interest in object making. Before coming to Colorado, Jason worked as a shop tech and instructor in sculpture classes and helped good friends start a sheep farm in Kentucky.

Studio Coordinator, Photography & New Media

Emily Fannon is the Studio Manager for our Photography and Digital Media program. Emily is from Croton-on-Hudson, New York. She earned her BA with a minor in Spanish from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame Indiana. Emily's concentration is in animation and digital video. Her professional experience ranges from working as a local government aid to freelance web design.

Studio Coordinator, Painting & Printmaking

A native of Seattle, WA, Elizabeth received her BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. From 2005 – 2007 she was the Associate Curator of Education / Museum School Director for the Nevada Museum of Art. She received her MFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. Elizabeth joined the Ranch in 2009.

Rob received his BS in Economics from Bates College in 1981 and his AS in Accounting from Champlain College in 1984. A resident of Basalt, Co since 1986, he has recently joined the Anderson Ranch in September of 2009.

Retiring from a career in advertsing, Tim moved to Snowmass Village in early 2007. He became closely involved with the Ranch, assisting in the Registrar's office and Cafe. Access to the Photo and Digital facilities has given him the opportunity to return to his lifelong interest in photography & printing.
