CONCEPT: Focus on exactly what you need to know to creatively edit and organize your photographs in Adobe Lightroom. Discover the best ways to manage your photographs in Lightroom’s Library module so that they’re easy to find later. Take control of the user-friendly editing tools in Lightroom’s Develop module. And take home an efficient workflow that saves you time and helps you to bring out the best in your photographs.

MEDIA & TECHNIQUES: Digital photography, Adobe Lightroom, and digital printing.

ACTIVITIES: This is a hands-on class, in which you’ll follow along with your instructor as you learn the essentials of editing and photo management in Lightroom. Step-by-step tutorials are supplemented by in-class demonstrations and friendly discussions about storing, importing and organizing photographs, adjusting color and tone, sharpening, noise reduction, retouching, and creatively enhancing your photographs in Lightroom. In-class activities are complemented by shooting field trips to some of the Rocky Mountains most beautiful areas. After shooting, you’ll learn to process your images and create prints of your photos.

FACULTY: Jan Kabili is an experienced instructor who has taught Lightroom and Photoshop to many photographers at Anderson Ranch over the years. Jan is one of the original instructors at the online training service lynda.com, where she has recorded 40 courses about Lightroom, Photoshop, and Photoshop Elements. She has written many books for photographers, including her latest, The Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for Photographers Classroom in a Book. Jan is a fine art photographer with an MFA in photography and electronic media from University of Colorado at Boulder. She is also a graduate of Stanford University and Stanford Law School.
