Join us for a conversation in Schermer Meeting Hall at Anderson Ranch Arts Center with Visiting Artist Torbjörn Vejvi.
Visiting Artist lectures are free, open to the public, and available in person or via livestream.
Torbjörn Vejvi (b. 1972), raised on a self-sufficient farm in Southern Sweden, brings a tactile sensibility to his sculptural practice, obliquely shaped by a childhood of raising sheep and weaving. Over the past decade, he’s shifted from abstract sculpture to functional, hand-turned wooden lamps and candleholders; as with his sculptural practice, he transforms everyday materials through meticulous craftsmanship and vibrant color. The Visiting Artists program is a core part of the Anderson Ranch Arts Center experience, welcoming contemporary artists across disciplines to work on campus through residencies and special projects. Artists receive dedicated time, space, and technical support to develop new work and advance their practice. Visiting artists engage with students and residents through studio visits, critiques, and public lectures, creating a meaningful exchange that enriches the Ranch community and the broader public. The Ranch Café
The Café is available to Ranch students, faculty, and staff only from October through May.
The Café is a social hub where students and visitors gather to discuss ideas, plan for new creative experiences, and reflect on shared teachings. Join us for a beautiful buffet lunch offering fresh salads and rotating hot items.
