Greg Van Wagner
Greg Van Wagner grew up in central Pennsylvania racing road bikes. After earning a sponsorship that brought him to Boulder, Colorado—widely regarded as the U.S. hub of cycling—he began working with Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey at Frasca Food & Wine. It was there that Greg’s passion for wine and fine dining took root, prompting a shift in focus from competitive cycling to the world of hospitality.
At Jimmy’s, a beloved Aspen institution for more than 25 years, Greg was given the opportunity to fully develop his expertise, building an award-winning wine program from the ground up. From 2014 to 2021, he expanded the wine list to more than 1,000 selections, earning numerous local and national accolades.
In 2018, Greg passed the notoriously rigorous Master Sommelier examination on his first attempt, achieving the highest score in his cohort and earning the prestigious Krug Cup. Most recently, he created the wine and beverage program for Parc Aspen from inception. In its first year under his leadership, the 1,300-selection list received Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence, and Greg was named Aspen’s Best Sommelier.
