Abstract Painting: Non-Traditional Approaches
Iva Gueorguieva
Tuition $1,295
Code D1019-26
Explore a drawing approach to abstract painting with a focus on line quality, mark, and gesture. This method of immediacy encourages students to find specificity in their imagery and create large-scale paintings on muslin that contain wall power. Working in acrylic and other water-based media, students experiment with out-of-the-box prompts like painting without a brush, using charcoal as an underpainting/drawing, and working from the subconscious. Color is explored as an important tool for creating space within a painting.
