Rebecca Weiss
Rebecca Weiss is author of the local guidebook, Birds of Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley and primary guide for the Birding Program at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). Her background includes ornithological and botanical field research, conservation writing, and instructing for outdoor education programs. She holds degrees in Biology and Education and is a certified interpretive guide. Past employers and affiliations include the National Park Service, US Fish & Wildlife Service, Outward Bound, and the Rocky Mountain Biological Lab.
As a guide, Rebecca illuminates the natural world for participants and imparts the inspiration and tools to continue the joy of discovery. Her knowledge of birds and their habitats is complimented by a foundation in ecology and regional history, providing the big-picture context she loves to share. After an international upbringing and work in some of the world’s biggest cities, Rebecca has made Colorado her home since the early ‘90s. Apart from her guiding work, Rebecca can be found happily distracted by birds while gardening and enjoying all kinds of mountain-oriented adventures in the backcountry.
