Latine Art Programs
Anderson Ranch Arts Center is proud to share an innovative set of programs that will strengthen services to the regional community through Latine arts and culture offerings.
Courtesy of a significant gift, the Ranch has developed a multi-faceted program with the goal of uniting artists and art enthusiasts around a shared interest in Latine arts and culture.
The programming under this initiative includes:
- Latine Visiting Artists Program: two artists are chosen to work in our studios and engage with our community.
- Educator Workshop: local teachers and community leaders take mini-workshops in our studios with Latine Visiting Artists, and learn how to apply these practices to their own educational spaces.
- Latine Art Curriculum: lesson plans and units have been developed around the life, work, and artistic journey of the Latine Visiting Artists.
- Community Celebration: a Hispanic Heritage celebration with music, dance, food and culture.
- Latine Youth Summer Workshop Scholarships: program which invites local schools to nominate one current student to participate in an all expenses paid summer workshop.
- More outreach programs in our Roaring Fork Valley community!
With this programming in place, we invite all members of our community to participate in and enjoy the shared experiences these gatherings provide.

2025 Latine Visiting Artists

Steven Molina Contreras
October 7th to October 17th, 2025
Steven Molina Contreras(b. San Salvador, El Salvador) is a Brooklyn-based artist and photographer whose work explores themes of migration, family, and belonging. Rooted in personal history and cultural memory, his images blend documentary aesthetics with performance and vernacular image-making to reimagine domestic and everyday spaces as sites of transformation and resilience.
His work has been exhibited at the Musée de l’Elysée, the Hood Museum of Art, and the Center for Photography at Woodstock, and has traveled nationally through You Belong Here: Place, People, and Purpose in Latinx Photography. His photographs have appeared in Aperture, The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, and Matte Magazine and are held in the collections of the Hood Museum and Light Work. He has been an artist-in-residence at Light Work and the Center for Photography at Woodstock. He has lectured at institutions including NYU, Stanford, Bard College, Anderson Arts Center, and Pratt.
Steven Molina Contreras will be at the Ranch working as a Visiting Artist, participating in the Latine Arts and Education Workshop.
Carla Fernández
October 7th to October 17th, 2025
Carla Fernández was born in 1973 in Saltillo, Mexico, and is based in Mexico City. Drawing inspiration from the geometric shapes of Mexican textiles and patterns, Fernández works closely with communities of indigenous artisans and craftspeople to create her clothing, textiles, and housewares for her eponymous fashion label. Guided by the ethos that tradition is not static and fashion is not ephemeral, Fernández travels throughout Mexico, visiting artisans who specialize in centuries-old techniques—such as weaving, handlooming, embroidery, mud dyeing, and leather working—and employs them to contribute in the production of new pieces and collections. Fernández’s practice serves as a reconceptualization of the ways in which cultural heritage and tradition can thrive in a globalizing, homogenizing world.
Carla Fernández will be at the Ranch working as a Visiting Artist, participating in the Latine Arts and Education Workshop.

Latine Exhibition: Steven Molina Contreras and Bridges High School
On Display September 3rd to October 20th, 2025 | Free & Open To The Public
This photography project was the result of a collaboration between Bridges High School and Anderson Ranch Arts Center. As part of Anderson Ranch’s Latine Visiting Artist Program, photographer Steven Molina Contreras led a workshop where students created collaborative and self-portraits with people who have shaped their lives—family members, close friends, teachers, or symbolic representations. The project drew inspiration from Molina Contreras’s photographic practice, which often transforms everyday spaces—such as bedrooms, living rooms, and backyards—into intentional, emotionally charged environments.
