Art of Mexico
Jul 17 - 21, 2023
9AM - 3PM
Concept
Join this culturally-rich workshop where students create and design art projects based on traditional Mexican folk arts including pottery, weaving, and paper crafts. While learning some basic Spanish, students look at various examples of artwork from regions in Mexico as well as their historic significance. Students then create their own artworks inspired by “alejibres” which are whimsical wooden toys, “hojalata” or tin artwork, “papel picado” which is a cut paper technique—plus ceramics and more! On Friday there is a celebration with a piñata for friends and families to enjoy.
