Build Your Foundation: Photography 101

June 10 – 14, 2024

In today’s digital age, everyone can take a photo. What separates a casual snapshot from captivating imagery is an understanding of the core principles of photography. The upcoming Photography 101 workshop with Max Labelle, June 10 – 14, is designed to transform your photographic journey from novice to expert.

This workshop is perfect for anyone who has ever wondered how to elevate their photography practice. While there’s a wealth of knowledge available online, nothing quite compares to hands-on experience under the guidance of a seasoned professional. Participants will learn how to communicate their ideas effectively through photographs, understand essential concepts in photography, and appreciate important historic and contemporary photographic work. We’ll examine topics such as digital cameras, file management, light and color, digital editing, and the creation of a stunning final print.

Instructor Max Labelle is a Massachusetts-based photographer who graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2019 and is currently attending the University of Hartford’s Photography MFA program. His work primarily revolves around long-term projects focused on place, history, and the man-altered landscape.
