Snowmass Village, Colo. (May 3, 2017) – Anderson Ranch Arts Center, a premier place for artistic discovery, community and critical dialogue in the contemporary art world, announces it has received a $50,000 grant from the Dresner Foundation to support its High School Scholarship Program for the next two years. The grant will provide a total of 24 scholarships to young aspiring artists in need.

“The generous donation from the Dresner Foundation will provide high school students from low income areas of Colorado with scholarships to Anderson Ranch workshops and the chance to experience all that Anderson Ranch Arts Center has to offer. Together, the Dresner Foundation and Anderson Ranch are creating opportunities for students to develop personal and professional skills, while in a creative environment that offers long-term mentorships and support,” explains Nancy Wilhelms, Executive Director of Anderson Ranch Arts Center.

Scholarships will underwrite all art-making experiences for one-week summer workshops, including all tuition costs and fees, housing, meals in the Ranch Café and art supplies. Scholarship participants include 12 junior and senior level high school students per year from three participating regional high schools, including Coal Ridge High School in New Castle, Grand Valley High School in Parachute, and Rifle High School in Rifle. The Dresner Foundation is the largest supporter of the High School Scholarship Program.

“The High School Scholarship Program at Anderson Ranch Arts Center provides underserved youth with wonderful opportunities for art education and professional skill development. As in-school arts education is continually reduced due to budget reductions and time constraints, the Dresner Foundation is proud to support Anderson Ranch’s efforts to engage students who may not otherwise have this opportunity,” notes Lori Dresner, President of the Dresner Foundation. “As a participant of Anderson Ranch workshops myself, I have had the opportunity to witness firsthand scholarship students working alongside artists of all professional levels, ages and backgrounds, to explore new ideas, hone their art making skills and engage in meaningful dialogue about their local and global community. It’s exciting to see their development.”
