Children’s Art Workshops
Anderson Ranch Arts Center offers inspiring art classes and creative workshops for children ages 4-17, introducing young artists to the joy of making, experimenting, and discovering their unique creative voices. For nearly six decades, the Ranch has brought artists of all ages together in an environment where creativity, exploration, and community thrive.
Hands-On Programs for Young Artists
Our children’s programs offer hands-on opportunities to explore drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking, and other creative disciplines. Led by experienced teachers and artists, these engaging classes encourage curiosity, build artistic skills, and make art accessible and fun for children of different ages and experience levels.
Creative Exploration in an Inspiring Mountain Setting
Located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Anderson Ranch provides an inspiring setting where children can experiment, make new discoveries, and connect with their creativity. Through hands-on art making and collaborative experiences, young artists develop confidence, creative problem-solving skills, and a deeper appreciation for contemporary art.

Art Meets Science: Curious Creators
Emily Katebini
Tuition $600
Code K1316-26
Young artists discover the power of wondering, investigating, and imagining the world in new ways. Each day, we meet a real-life scientist who followed their curiosity to make amazing discoveries. We learn about Rosalind Franklin, who used light to explore the building blocks of life; George Washington Carver, who saw beauty and possibility in every plant; and Mae Jemison, who dreamed of the stars—and reached them. We keep stories simple, visuals vibrant, and conversations open-ended, inviting children to see science as a playful, creative adventure. Through storytelling, hands-on experiments, and art-making, children become the scientists of their own world—asking questions, making discoveries, and sharing what they see.

Join for a single day or the whole week! Bugs and Birds: Life Below and Above! From the tiniest beetle tunneling underground to the highest hawk circling overhead, this week takes young artists on a journey through every layer of life on Earth. We start low, sculpting clay bugs and building tiny dioramas of the hidden world beneath the rug, in the dirt, and under fallen logs. Then we climb upward, painting layered skyscapes and crafting birds, bats, and bugs that take to the air. Along the way, we study real creatures- their shapes, colors, and camouflage - and use them as inspiration for our own imaginative critters. By the end of the week, we’ve built a whole ecosystem of artwork from the ground up to the clouds! REGISTRATION: If you are interested in registering for single days, please reach out to our Registration Department at [email protected] or call 970-924-5089.

Spring Art Break
Emily Katebini
Tuition $375
Code ZSK1301-27
Join for a single day or the whole week! The Shape Shifters! Squares, spirals, and everything in between - this week, we build our own world out of pure geometry! We experiment with pattern, and symmetry, folding paper into geometric pop-up sculptures, painting bold shape-based compositions, and constructing 3D forms from cardboard and string. We look at how artists and architects use shapes to build everything from mosaics to skyscrapers, then design our creations. Along the way, we play with colour, balance, repetition to discover just how much a simple shape can do. By the end of the week, we’ve transformed basic geometry into a gallery of wildly imaginative art! REGISTRATION: If you are interested in registering for single days, please reach out to our Registration Department at [email protected] or call 970-924-5089.
