Teresa Booth Brown

Students who sign up for both of Teresa’s workshops will receive 20% off their second class tuition.

DATES: August 17 – 21, 2015

SKILL LEVEL: Open to all

CONCEPT: How is abstract work created? This workshop uses concrete exercises, techniques, and discussion to develop personal abstract language and expression. Each class starts with a technical demonstration and discussion. We then focus on warm-up exercises to get everyone working quickly and without hesitation. Next we focus on problems specifically designed to both create and expand upon abstract vocabulary. In the afternoon we increase the breadth and depth of our understanding of abstract art with a slide lecture and discussion. The remainder of the day consists of individual exploration and discussion with the instructor.

MEDIA & TECHNIQUES: Students practice abstract painting (both oil and acrylic), drawing, collage techniques and media.

ACTIVITIES: We learn through technical demonstration, exercises, group discussion, slide lectures, individual exploration, and one-on-one discussions with the instructor.

FACULTY: Teresa Booth Brown is an abstract painter who works in oil, collage, drawing and installation. In addition to teaching and showing, Teresa has been a fellow at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, a resident at the Ucross Foundation, and a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome. www.teresaboothbrown.com
