Joshua Davis teaches a popular digital media class every summer at Anderson Ranch. As is the nature of coding workshops, participants usually enter the photo building on Monday and are rarely seen again until Friday when they emerge with beautiful prints in hand and a hard drive full of interactive digital work.
This summer, Joshua took his class out of the lab, across the grounds and into the wood shop to introduced them to the CNC router. The class spent the week coding intricate designs and (with the help of Studio Coordinator Jason Schneider and Intern Justin Richards) transfered their designs into a CAD 3D rendering program to be carved into skateboards by the CNC.
Aspen public radio interviewed Joshua to find more about his process and his integration of digital art with more traditional mediums.
