CONCEPT: The iPhone has become an increasingly popular device for image making, allowing for fast, fun and easy processing of images. It keeps our eyes sharp and minds visually and actively aware of the world around us. In this workshop, we explore the basics of setting up your device to streamline your workflow, overview multiple apps to create engaging images and format your phone for easy online distribution. We also explore thepotential of the iPhone for use in documentary projects, book projects, mixed-media designs, digital negatives, art installations and a variety of other unique possibilities.

MEDIA & TECHNIQUES: Students use iPhone, iPad and select camera editing apps.

ACTIVITIES: We participate in daily field trips, studio time and discussions.

FACULTY: Jonathan Laurence is the Creative Director at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art [CMCA], as well as an artist, photographer and educator. He received the Rising Star Award from the Palm Beach Photographic Center and was listed as one of the top 60 most collectable artists in Maine by Maine Home + Design. He leads digital media and creativity workshops through the Maine Media Workshops, NORD photography and private tutorials.
