Weaving Willow: Functional Frame Basketry
Daniel Brocket, Betsy Brocket
Tuition $1,240
Code W1110-25
This workshop will explore the construction of frame-style baskets woven with willow and is suitable for all levels. Starting with pre-dried hoops, students will establish the structure and handle, then work to add ribs to create volume and shape. Once the armature is assembled, rods will be woven throughout to complete the form. A variety of potential silhouettes can be created, and lids or leather straps can be added to enhance functionality. Note: Willow basketry is physically demanding on hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders.
