Ryan Rasmussen
Ryan Rasmussen is a multi-disciplinary artist and educator whose work spans practices in sculpture, installation, kinetic/electronic works, and video. Ryan currently resides in North Carolina where he is Assistant Professor of Intermedia at Elon University. Ryan’s work has been shown in places such as New York, Chicago, Doha, Seoul, Minsk, and Istanbul.

VIRTUAL WORKSHOP: Introduction to Projection Mapping

In this course we explore how projected image can be mapped to a variety of surfaces and materials to embellish, enhance, enliven, and/or activate them. Each student explores how projection mapping may be used as a way of creating active and time-based surfaces in their works. Demonstrations cover the three main aspects of this process: digital video and image manipulation, creating a 3D volume out of materials such as foamcore, cardboard, and fabric, and mapping digital media to constructed forms via computer and projector. All students should have access to a cheap projector for the duration of the workshop.
