Anderson Ranch Arts Center, a premier destination for art making and critical dialog in the contemporary art world, welcomes Michael Aldridge, who will be the organization’s first Vice President of External Relations.

In this new role, Aldridge will focus on the unity and success of external-facing activities. He’ll oversee the Marketing & Communications, Development and Events teams; focusing on developing annual signature events, securing corporate underwriting, managing foundation relationships and overseeing major gifts and campaigns. He’ll also elevate and magnify the organization’s impact by building deep philanthropic relationships, communicating the important role Anderson Ranch plays across intersecting communities and driving increased engagement, earned revenue, and philanthropic support.

“We are honored to have Michael Aldridge join the Anderson Ranch Arts Center leadership team,” said President and CEO Peter Waanders. He continued, “Michael’s proven history of engaging people with an organization’s mission and his passion for both art and commitment to social change are a perfect fit for Anderson Ranch, where we believe in the power of art in changing individual lives and the world. We look forward to introducing him to the community.”

Aldridge said about his appointment, “I’m honored to join the team at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, one of the most respected arts organizations in the nation, and to return to my roots in the art world.  I can’t wait to immerse myself in this creative community and to help the team realize their dreams for the Ranch’s future.”

Aldridge was a studio art major at Centre College and returns to his artistic roots with a move to Anderson Ranch after nearly two decades working for social justice in Kentucky. He is the longest-serving Executive Director of the ACLU of Kentucky, having taken the helm of the organization in 2008. Prior to that, he served as the first Development Director at Kentuckians For The Commonwealth, tripling the organizational budget in three years. He is also known for his LGBTQ advocacy work, for which he was inducted into the Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame in 2018.

Aldridge’s work with Anderson Ranch has already begun, and first day on the Ranch campus will be April 21, 2022.
