DATES: June 15 – 19, 2015

This is the first in a series of two workshops, followed by Amadou’s “Telling Your Story with the iPhone.” Students attending both workshops will receive a 20% discount on session two. Students may take either or both.

CONCEPT: Using the iPhone, the world’s most popular camera, learn how to convey your own personal photographic vision of the world around you. The iPhone is firmly recognized as a viable photographic tool for both hobbyists and professional photographers. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll discover its strengths and weaknesses, while mastering hands-on techniques that elevate photography from snapshots to thoughtful and personal imagery. We practice solid composition and image-making techniques and explore the camera apps and editing tools most conducive to traditional photography.

MEDIA & TECHNIQUES: Students use iPhone, iPad and select camera and editing apps.

ACTIVITIES: Students participate in photography excursions led by the instructor, daily assignments, discussions and supervised image-editing sessions using iPhones and iPads. Students have opportunities to have prints made of select images.

FACULTY: Amadou Diallo is a photographer, educator, author and technology journalist. He has exhibited his work in galleries throughout the U.S. and currently writes about photography and technology for Forbes and The Wirecutter.
