Join us for an engaging guest artist lecture, part of the Anderson Ranch’s summer of free artist lectures in Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado.

Held on Sunday and Tuesday evenings from June through September, these events highlight renowned contemporary artists and faculty through dynamic slideshow presentations. Artists share insights into their creative process, studio practice, influences, and current work, offering a behind-the-scenes look at contemporary art today. Connect with leading artists and discover new ideas in a welcoming, creative setting.

Registration is appreciated. All on-campus workshop participants are automatically registered.

Speaker

Sachiko Akiyama

Sachiko Akiyama received her MFA in sculpture at Boston University and continued her studies at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Akiyama lives and works in Portsmouth, NH, where her proximity to the ocean, woods, and wildlife has deepened her connections to the natural themes prevalent in her work. Akiyama has exhibited work nationally, and has been granted awards including a Joan Mitchell Fellowship and an Artist Resource Trust Grant.

Robert Pruitt

Robert Pruitt works in a variety of materials, with the focus of his practice centered on rendering large scale figurative portraits. His work is in numerous public collections, including the Dallas Museum of Art); the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston); the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston ; the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University,; the Portland Museum of Art,ME; the Studio Museum in Harlem, NY; the Blanton Museum of Art, Austin; and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond.

The Ranch Café

The Café is available to Ranch students, faculty, and staff only from October through May. 

The Café is a social hub where students and visitors gather to discuss ideas, plan for new creative experiences, and reflect on shared teachings. Join us for a beautiful buffet lunch offering fresh salads and rotating hot items.
