Guest Faculty Lecture: Trey Hill and Ben Timpson

Sunday and Tuesday evenings, June through September, the Ranch features a 60-minute presentation by distinguished faculty members and Visiting Artists. These insightful talks dive into inspiration, the creative process and more.

Guest Faculty Lectures are free, open to the public, and available in person or via livestream. Registration is required for attendance. All on-campus workshop participants will be pre-registered for this event.

Trey Hill

Trey Hill is a professional sculptor and associate professor at the University of Montana where he teaches both ceramics and sculpture. He received his BFA from Bowling Green State University and his MFA from San Jose State University. His work has been shown in galleries and museums nationally and internationally. Trey has gained extensive travel and creative experiences through his many artist residencies.

Benjamin Timpson

Benjamin Timpson is an artist whose interdisciplinary practice spans photography, sculpture, and painting, with a focus on themes of memory, resilience, and cultural survival. He is an Associate Professor of Photography in the School of Art at Arizona State University. Timpson’s work has been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally, including solo exhibitions at Lisa Sette Gallery and the Tucson Museum of Art, where his work was acquired for the permanent collection. His ongoing series, Illuminated Lives, employs deconstructed butterfly wings to create luminous portraits that honor Indigenous women and environmental defenders, weaving together material experimentation, storytelling, and social justice. A Yale-Smithsonian Poynter Fellow, Timpson has received recognition for both his artistic innovation and his commitment to collaborative practice. He earned his M.F.A. from Indiana University.
