Event
Locals’ Club: Circle of Fire
Feb 21 - Mar 11, 2022
Lyeth/Lyon Kiln Building
Local ceramic artists and potters are invited to work with the Anderson Ranch team in the Ranch’s own incredible Noborigama wood kiln. Pottery and sculptures need to be made of high fire stoneware and porcelain clays. The glazing takes place with Ranch glazes the week before the loading. Our Studio Coordinator of Ceramics, Louise Deroualle, will plan, load and coordinate the firings in our Noborigama kiln.
Cost of firing is split proportionally by the volume of work each participant has in the kiln.
- February 21-24: deliver work/glaze/wad each piece. By appointment.
- February 28 and March 1: load the kiln. There will be a sign-up sheet for loading shifts.
- March 1-4: fire the kiln. There will be a sign-up sheet for firing shifts. Shifts are six hours long.
- March 11: unload the kiln and clean up.
The Noborigama kiln requires a commitment from participants and is very labor intensive. If you plan to participate you will be part of the whole process of loading, firing and cleaning up.
If you are interested in being part of this firing, please contact Louise at [email protected].
