Knuckle Up!

Brad Reed Nelson

Tuition $975
Code W1315-21

In this class students work with a metal joint called a knuckle which eliminates the traditional method of joinery known as mortise and tenon. The mortise and tenon technique, which connects wood with other materials at right angles, is the go-to for tables, chairs, benches and more. The “knuckle,” however, is stronger than any wood joint and thus expands design possibilities. With structural and weight limitations greatly reduced, students are free to experiment with forms otherwise impossible with traditional joinery. Explore DIY on a whole new level.
