Brad Reed Nelson

Brad Reed Nelson received his MFA in sculpture from Arizona State University. He founded Board By Design, a functional design company in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley. Brad was included in the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, and his work has been featured in many publications, such as Woodworker’s Journal, American Craft, The Penland Book of Woodworking, Boston Globe, Aspen Peak Magazine, Aspen Magazine, Aspen Sojourner, Dwell, Los Angeles Times and Elle Decor.

Build, craft, create and learn in this excellent introduction to woodworking with an emphasis on designing and constructing a table or stool. This workshop explores how wood can be used as a medium for creative expression. Working with kiln-dried lumber, students become familiar with a wide variety of hand and power tools as well as heavy woodworking machinery. Techniques cover wood selection and preparation, traditional joinery, carving, shaping, painting and finishing. This course offers a nurturing and unintimidating environment for students to grasp the basics while still producing something functional.
