Expression of Depth and Layering

Heesoo Lee

Tuition $1,450
Code C1115-24

Heesoo Lee’s work primarily draws from nature and the landscape, and she uses it to create the perception of depth and movement on her own pieces. In this workshop, participants create porcelain vessels, including a porcelain basket and vase, through an additive process and hand-built forms, with demonstrations of techniques for building up surfaces; altering, texturing, and decorating surfaces to enhance the three-dimensionality of a painting; and layering with underglazes. Students do not need to be skilled in handbuilding, though a basic comfort with handling clay is vital. While landscape is the focus of the workshop, students are encouraged to use the technique in any way they choose.
