Tamir Kalifa

Tamir Kalifa is an independent photographer and musician based in Austin, Texas. Guided by the belief that compassionate visual storytelling and music can help deepen the understanding of ourselves and one another, he focuses his work on individuals and communities facing major social, political, and environmental challenges. Tamir’s work has been published widely in The New York Times, Texas Monthly, NPR and other outlets, and his intimate documentation of the families in Uvalde after the Robb Elementary School shooting earned him recognition from the Chris Hondros Fund and the American Mosaic Journalism Prize. Tamir also wrote, recorded, and performed original music as a member of Mother Falcon, an Austin-based orchestral indie-rock ensemble founded in 2009. His new multimedia performance project, Witness, blends his images with original songs inspired by his experiences behind the camera.
