Wayne Lawrence

Wayne Lawrence is a St. Kitts-born visual artist who uses photography to navigate ideas of community and purpose through nuanced storytelling. His book Orchard Beach: The Bronx Riviera (Prestel 2014), is the result of a six-year journey photographing the colorful character of the only beach in New York’s Bronx community. Lawrence’s work has been commissioned by The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, and New York Magazine, among others, and exhibited by numerous galleries and museums.

    Students are new to photography and new media and have no formal training in photography, video, multimedia or animation. Students have basic computer literacy.

  • II

    Level II

    Photography students have a basic understanding of photography principles and technology and are comfortable using an SLR camera in manual mode. New Media students have a basic understanding of video, multimedia or animation software. Students have basic computer skills and are comfortable using a Macintosh computer.

In-depth storytelling has never been more essential, and this workshop offers intermediate and advanced photographers a focused yet supportive environment for mastering the skills and techniques required to create a compelling image series.
