After-School Art: Spring Session

Concept
This spring, the creative world of Anderson Ranch Arts Center will be transported to the Aspen Elementary School! Kids who are looking to explore the wonderful world of art can join us after school on early-release Wednesdays in the elementary school art room for seven afternoons filled with artistic exploration and growth. Featured activities include painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, sculpture, and use of other mixed-media materials.
At Anderson Ranch Arts Center, we believe in the importance of art as a means of personal expression—a creative outlet for children to explore color, form, texture, and composition. This program empowers children to build confidence, try something new, and have fun!

Media & Techniques
Anderson Ranch staff will provide the materials, guidance and inspiration to create works of art in painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, sculpture, and other mixed-media materials.
Faculty
Olivia Martinez
Youth and Community Engagement Manager
Olivia was raised in San Francisco, California, and graduated from Colorado College in 2020 with a B.A. in Education and minors in Southwest Studies and Spanish. She has worked at the Denver Art Museum and Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College and is also a certified Colorado Environmental Educator. Olivia completed her Master’s in Teaching at Colorado College with a focus on Elementary Education in 2021. When not working with young people she is always looking for good food, creating, and cruising around on her bike. Preferred Pronouns: She/Her

Join for a single day or the whole week! Whiz, Whoosh, Zoom! Art in Action. Get ready to move, make, and imagine! In this high-energy workshop, we explore the exciting world of motion through art. From flowing rivers and twisting roads to flying machines and spinning surprises, each day brings a new adventure. We’ll sculpt clay boats, build tunnels, fly hand-crafted kites, and create mesmerizing zoetropes. Using Ozobots, topographic maps, recycled treasures, and vibrant paints, we’ll invent whimsical machines and kinetic creations. Through sculpture, collage, and playful invention, we’ll turn movement into magic. At the end of the week, we’ll celebrate with a special gallery show featuring all our action-packed artworks!
