Fly High in the Sky (in Partnership with ACES)
Emily Katebini
Tuition $600
Code K0709-26
The first two days of camp are at Hallam Lake and the final three days of the week are at Anderson Ranch. In partnership with the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, we explore the exciting intersection of nature, art, and kite building! We begin the week by learning about the science of flight, bird habitats, migration, and feather patterns, with a special focus on regional birds of prey and other local species. Students make detailed artistic studies using watercolor, colored pencils, and Sharpies to capture the colors, shapes, and textures of the birds they observe. As the week progresses, we transform these studies into one-of-a-kind handmade kites. Using inspiration from feather patterns and modern kite-building materials and techniques, students design kites that are as functional as they are beautiful. The workshop culminates in a kite-flying showcase, where everyone tests their creations and watches their art soar through the sky!

Math in Motion: Art and Patterns
Hallie McQueeny
Tuition $600
Code K0710-26
Uncover the hidden shapes that make our world magical! In this imaginative workshop, we dive into the amazing connection between math and art, exploring spirals, waves, and repeating patterns found in nature and design. We draw colorful Fibonacci spirals inspired by seashells and sunflowers, experiment with balance and harmony through golden ratio collages, and print bold patterns using stamps and natural objects. We paint branching fractal forests, design playful tessellations that fit together like puzzles, and create swirling ripple paintings that capture the motion of water and sound. From simple shapes to dazzling designs, we discover how geometry sparks creativity. At the end of the week, we take home a collection of vibrant artworks that show math isn’t just numbers—it’s living, moving art!
