Discover the Workshop
Join for a single day or the whole week!
Bugs and Birds: Life Below and Above! From the tiniest beetle tunneling underground to the highest hawk circling overhead, this week takes young artists on a journey through every layer of life on Earth. We start low, sculpting clay bugs and building tiny dioramas of the hidden world beneath the rug, in the dirt, and under fallen logs. Then we climb upward, painting layered skyscapes and crafting birds, bats, and bugs that take to the air. Along the way, we study real creatures- their shapes, colors, and camouflage – and use them as inspiration for our own imaginative critters. By the end of the week, we’ve built a whole ecosystem of artwork from the ground up to the clouds!

Meet Your Faculty
Emily Katebini
Children’s and Community Engagement Program Manager
Emily Katebini is the Children’s and Community Engagement Program Coordinator of the Anderson Ranch. Emily earned an MA in Intellectual Disabilities and Autism in Elementary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. With a distinguished career as a New York City educator, she earned the 2022 New York Literacy Outreach Award for her significant contributions to improving literacy outcomes across the city. Prior to joining the Anderson Ranch, Katebini served as the Director of Special Education and Giftedness at a K-12…
Studio access, shipping, campus policies, and other information for workshop participants.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be the correct age for the workshop as of the first day of class. Registration is confirmed once parents receive confirmation by email, and the online waiver form must be completed before the first workshop.
Payment: Children’s and teen workshops are charged in full at the time of registration.
Cancellations: With at least 60 days’ notice, we will refund your payments less a cancellation fee of $150 per workshop. Cancellations made within 60 days of the start of the workshop will result in a full forfeiture.
Students attending all-day workshops are asked to bring a sack lunch and a snack.

Child & Teen Scholarships
Applications for scholarship support are encouraged. Specific scholarships are funded by Ranch supporters, both individuals and foundations, either through endowed funds or special gifts.
