DATES: July 13 – 17, 2015 (please note date change from course catalog)

SKILL LEVEL: III – IV

CONCEPT: Discover your own distinct vision as an artist and cultivate a cohesive body of work through the process of fine-art digital printmaking. This is the perfect course for advanced photographers interested in creating solid portfolios to represent their core photographic visions. In this workshop, you write your own artistic statement and then see it brought to life through day trips to photography sites around the Roaring Fork Valley. Investigate concepts and strategies that will guide you to creating a body of work that is powerful, well edited and sequenced. As a collective, we advance our shooting and printing skills while making technical choices that best suit our individual style and photographic content.

MEDIA & TECHNIQUES: Students use digital photography, digital printmaking and a digital workflow with Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.

ACTIVITIES: We participate in daily activities including presentations on artists’ projects, readings and field trips. Each student works on an individual project.

FACULTY: David Hilliard received an M.F.A. from Yale University. He is an Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design. David exhibits his photographs nationally and internationally and has won a Fulbright Scholarship and Guggenheim Fellowship. www.davidhilliard.com
